Poems of the Past Images of Now V

Unknown Woman
She used her dress to
wipe the seat clean.
And if the others knew just how much
thought went into cleaning it,
there might have been more peace.
For just once, she wished someone
would smile and thank her.
But no one ever notices a woman
and an empty seat
as something different.

Helpless
She could sit or stay.
One more minute,
and the circling
could end.
If only she knew
what men wanted
and how they wanted it,
maybe then she wouldn’t feel so helpless.
